Miller Welding and Machine Co. Names Eric D. Miller President
BROOKVILLE, Pa – January 2, 2018 – Miller Welding & Machine Company (MWM), a strategic metals manufacturing partner for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), announced Eric D. Miller has been named president, effective immediately. This marks the third generation of leadership for the family-owned business. Eric will report directly to former president David K. Miller, who will take on the role of chairman of the board. Cathy Elensky, previously inventory manager, has been promoted to chief financial officer.
As president, Eric will be responsible for all operations across each of the three MWM plants, located in Brookville and Homer City, Pennsylvania. Eric has held various roles within MWM over the past 23 years, starting as a clerk filing papers and sweeping floors. He progressed to IT specialist after graduating from Lehigh University with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, before moving onto customer service and purchasing positions. Most recently, Eric was the vice president of sales and marketing at MWM.
“I’m thrilled to be given the opportunity to build on such a successful company legacy, as forged by the humble roots of my grandparents and father,” Miller said. “Because of their strong leadership, we’re well positioned to launch Miller Welding & Machine as an Industry 4.0 hub for innovative OEMs. Our strengthened focus on technology and superior quality standards is designed to enhance the overall customer experience, from quote to delivery.”
David K. Miller began his career with MWM more than 40 years ago, starting as a supervisor and managing engineering, quality, production and customer service. David led the business through several changes and transitions, including shifting the business from primarily repair and refurbishment services into a fully-fledged, strategic OEM fabricator. During his tenure, the MWM Maplevale plant was built to add quality metal coatings for OEM parts as well as the supply of finished metal parts, and the company began its foray into lean manufacturing. These endeavors translated into more than 300% revenue growth over a three-year period.
Cathy Elensky is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor’s degree in business logistics. Cathy served in the United States Army Reserves before embarking on her career with MWM, in which she has acted as buyer, materials manager and inventory manager.
Over the last 50 years, MWM has evolved from a small, three-person operation into a top metal fabrication partner for OEMs. The company employs approximately 400 people throughout the Western Pennsylvania region, ranking it within the top 15 employers in the county. Miller Welding & Machine was named Manufacturer of the Year in 2016 by Pittsburgh Business Times.
The company is launching a bimonthly webinar series specially designed for OEMs this month. The inaugural webinar, entitled “Maximizing the Inventory Capabilities of Your Metal Manufacturer,” will be presented by Eric Miller on January 24 at 11:30 a.m. EST.
