Two Miller Plants Open for Manufacturing Day Tours October 4
Participants will get first look at Miller’s newest laser-cutting machinery and watch advanced robotics at work
BROOKVILLE, Pa. – Sept. 20, 2024 – Miller Fabrication Solutions (Miller), a strategic steel fabrication partner for global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), will offer free plant tours on Manufacturing Day (MFG Day) October 4. Held the first Friday of every October, MFG Day is designed to encourage people to consider rewarding careers in manufacturing.
Manufacturing helps communities and future generations thrive. As manufacturers seek to fill nearly 4 million jobs over the next decade, MFG Day builds understanding and excitement around the opportunities and benefits of working in the manufacturing industry. The annual, national event provides a rare opportunity for anyone interested in modern manufacturing technologies and processes to go behind the scenes and learn more. Each year, Miller hosts diverse groups that include educators, students, customers, vendors and the public.
Miller will open two of its facilities for MFG Day tours. People who visit will see the most advanced manufacturing automation in action, including a new, state-of-the-art machine recently installed at the Pine Creek facility in the Brookville Industrial Park that fully automates laser-cutting processes. Called the Trumpf TruLaser Center 7030, it automatically loads material, cuts, removes and stacks parts. Miller’s investment in the impressive laser cutter aligns with the company’s vision to increase automation at its plants.
MFG Day visitors also will see a Messer burning cell with dual metal-cutting heads that speeds up production times and eliminates air contamination. Other tour highlights will include state-of-the-art robotics, CNC (computer numerical control) machinery and other equipment, as well as information about lean processes, safe plant behaviors and what goes into fabricating high-quality parts for some of the world’s largest equipment makers.
“Manufacturing Day is an excellent opportunity for us to showcase our industry and for people to learn about the great jobs available in manufacturing,” said Eric D. Miller, the company’s president. “Finding enough skilled workers to meet increasing business growth is an ongoing challenge. We leverage Manufacturing Day each year to inspire people to explore manufacturing careers. We also enjoy giving people an inside look at the fascinating processes we execute every day to make very complex metal parts. It’s really one of those things you can’t fully appreciate until you see it.”
Miller’s MFG Day tours will run every 30 minutes from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. EDT at these locations:
Miller Fabrication Solutions (Pine Creek)
147 Industrial Park Rd.
Brookville, Pennsylvania 15825
